Specificity
Clone UCHM1 recognizes an epitope on human CD14.
Background
CD14 is a 5355 kD GPIanchored single chain glycoprotein that plays a role in the clearance of gramnegative pathogens by interacting with other proteins, including TLR4 and MD2, to mediate the innate immune response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). As a highaffinity receptor for LPS, it is involved in the upregulation of adhesion molecules and cytokine expression in monocytes and neutrophils.
