Introduction

The SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein is a surface glycoprotein that mediates viral entry into host cells. The S1 subunit contains the receptor-binding domain (RBD), which is responsible for recognizing and binding to the ACE2 receptor. This interaction is the first step in viral infection, making the S1 subunit a critical focus for vaccine development and antiviral therapies.

Typical Data

RayBiotech's SARS-CoV-2 S1 protein (Cat# 230-01101) induced IL-6 expression, IL-6 secretion, and STAT3 phosphorylation in brain endothelial cells. Figure adapted from Stangis et al., NeuroImmunePharmacol. Ther., 2024.

RayBiotech's SARS-CoV-2 S1 protein (Cat# 230-01101) was used as an ELISA antigen to evaluate vaccine-induced IgG responses in a multi-epitope immunization study. The study also included our S2 protein (Cat# 230-01103), along with additional RayBiotech viral antigens, to assess broader humoral immunity. Figure adapted from Atanasova et al., Pharmaceuticals, 2024.

RayBiotech's SARS-CoV-2 S1 protein (Cat# 230-01101) was used to coat ELISA plates for detecting spike-specific IgG responses in a phase I COVID-19 vaccine trial. Shown here: IgG levels after high-dose intramuscular vaccination. Figure adapted from Ponce-de-León et al., npj Vaccines, 2023.

RayBiotech's SARS-CoV-2 S1 protein (Cat# 230-01101) was used to stimulate endothelial cells, triggering inflammatory responses including IL-6 (shown here) and MCP-1 upregulation. Figure adapted from Montezano et al., Scientific Reports, 2023.

RayBiotech’s recombinant spike proteins and binding assay kit were used to assess ACE2-binding inhibition by viral spike domains. Shown here: inhibition of ACE2–RBD binding by SARS-CoV-2 S1 (Cat# 230-01101), SARS-CoV-2 RBD (Cat# 230-01102), and other viral proteins using the Spike–ACE2 Binding Assay Kit I (Cat# CoV-SACE2). Figure adapted from Bejoy et al., Arch BiochemBiophys, 2023.
