-20°CInterleukin-4 (IL-4) is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor which stimulates the growth and survivability of certain B cells and T cells. IL-4 is a pleiotropic cytokine that is produced by activated T cells, mast cells and basophils. IL-4 elicits many different biological responses, but has two dominant functions. The first is regulating differentiation of naive CD4+ T cell to the TH2 type. TH2 cells produce IL-4, IL-5, IL-10 and IL-13, which tend to favor a humoral immune response while suppressing a cell-mediated immune response controlled bu TH1 cells. The second is regulating IgE and IgG1 production by B cells. Recombinant IL-4 lacks all N-linked oligosaccharides to molecules highly overglycosylated, but all are fully biologically active. IL-4’s biological activity is species-specific.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/ml
ELISA: 0.1-0.4ug/ml
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O, sterile 40-50% glycerol, 0.1% BSA, aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
