RTL(+)-Ascorbic acid sodium salt is the L-isomer of ascorbic acid. It is an essential nutrient for humans and animals, and a cofactor for many enzymes involved in cellular metabolism. Ascorbic acid is an effective metal chelator, which can be used to treat infectious diseases such as tuberculosis. L(+)-Ascorbic acid sodium salt has been shown to have antioxidant properties. It also has antineoplastic activity against skin tumors when used at optimum concentration.
