Thrombopoietin, Recombinant, Mouse, Animal Free (TPO, Megakaryocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor, c-MPL Ligand, MGDF)

Thrombopoietin (TPO) is a lineage specific growth factor, produced in the liver, kidney and skeletal muscle. It stimulates the proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes, and promotes increased circulating levels of platelets in vivo. TPO signals through the c-mpl receptor and acts as an important regulator of circulating platelets. Human and murine TPO exhibits cross-species reactivity. Recombinant murine TPO is a fully biologically active 174 amino acid polypeptide (18.7kD), which contains the erythropoietin-like domain of the full length TPO protein. This comprises the receptor binding domain of the Mpl-ligand protein.

Biological Activity:
Determined by its ability to stimulate the proliferation of human MO7e cells. The expected ED50 is <1.0ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of >1x10e6units/mg.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with H2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
