Description

Description

Specificity
Clone 1126c.2a specifically reacts with the delta heavy chain of mouse IgD, without cross reacting with other classes of mouse immunoglobulin like IgA, IgG, or IgM.
Background
Immunoglobulin D (IgD) is one of the five main classes of immunoglobulins. Though it is an antibody that is not well understood, it has been discovered to have a vital role in both innate and adaptive immunity. It aids in activating and regulating B cells, especially in the upper respiratory mucosa. In this location, it enhances immune surveillance and defense against respiratory pathogens1. IgD also helps maintain a healthy microbiome by equipping myeloid effector cells with IgD antibodies that react to mucosal antigens, including both commensal and pathogenic microbes2.

The 1126c.2a clone is an essential tool in immunology research, particularly in the study of B cell development and activation pathways. It is widely used in flow cytometric analysis to identify surface IgD expression on mouse B cells. This provides valuable insights into B cell populations and their roles in immune responses3,4. When the antibody is conjugated, it allows for easy detection and multiplexing in flow cytometry, enabling comprehensive immunophenotyping studies5,6.
Antigen Distribution
IgD is expressed by peripheral mature B cells.
