| Clone Name | W4-86 |
|---|---|
| Application | FC, IHC, IP |
| Recommended Dilution | Flow Cytometry: Use 10 µl of 1/25-1/200 diluted antibody to label 106 cells in 100 µl. Immunoprecipitation. Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections. |
| Reactivity | Rabbit |
| Antibody Host | Mouse |
| Isotype | IgG1 |
| Clonality | Monoclonal |
| Immunogen | RL-5 T cell line glycoproteins. Spleen cells from an immunised mouse were fused with cells of the mouse P3.X63 Ag8 myeloma cell line. |
| Specificity | This antibody recognises the CD44 cell surface antigen, a 90kD glycoprotein expressed by all leucocytes. In immunohistochemical staining the antibody labels the medullary area strongly and the cortical area weakly. Reactivity in Flow cytometry may be weak. Clone W4/86 has been reported as being suitable for use in Western blotting under non-reducing conditions. |

| Background | CD44 is a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and is involved in cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion and migration. CD44 also participates in a wide variety of cellular functions including lymphocyte activation, recirculation and homing. CD44 expression may be up-regulated upon some carcinomas, and it has been speculated that this may be related to metastatic potential. |
