Biological Activity
Zearalenone is a mycotoxin obtained from Fusarium oxysporum and a non-steroidal oestrogen that acts by binding to the oestrogen receptor (ER) and has endocrine modulating or disrupting functions in animals. Zearalenone causes precocious development of mammae and other estrogenic effects in young gilts.
