Glycerol is a central metabolite in lipid metabolism, serving as both a structural component of triglycerides and a key intermediate in energy homeostasis. Under physiological conditions, plasma glycerol concentration is a direct indicator of lipolysis rate. Accurate quantification of glycerol is essential for studying metabolic regulation and for the research and development of therapies targeting metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes.

The Glycerol Assay Kit provides a simple and sensitive method for detecting glycerol levels. Through sequential enzymatic catalysis by glycerol kinase and glycerol phosphate oxidase, glycerol is converted to hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂). In the presence of horseradish peroxidase, the generated H₂O₂ reacts with the Amplex Red probe to produce resorufin, a highly fluorescent red product. The fluorescence intensity or absorbance of resorufin is directly proportional to the glycerol concentration in the sample. This kit is suitable for detecting glycerol in a wide range of sample types, including serum, plasma, cells, and tissues.
