Alu-Gel-S was specially developed for use as an adjuvant in human and veterinary vaccines. Due to the absence of buffer ions, it has a very low conductivity. The positive charge at neutral pH enables effective adsorption of negatively charged antigens. Alu-Gel-S enhances the affinity and uptake of antigen by antigen presenting cells (APCs) and increases the antibody-mediated (Th2) immune response.
Alu-Gel S is an aluminium hydroxide (alum) wet gel suspension. Ph. Eur. 1.3 % in water. Pyrogen-free (as tested in supernatant) stored, salt-free.
